The Gulfstream Phase VI Project is an infrastructure expansion designed to provide an additional 78,000 dekatherms of natural gas per day to serve markets in Florida.  The project was completed and went in-service in July of 2022.

Project Scope

The proposed major facilities include:

• The installation of a 3.9-mile, 36-inch diameter pipeline in Coden, Ala.
• The installation of a booster compressor at Gulfstream Compressor Station 410 located in Coden, Ala.
• Uprating the maximum allowable operating pressure for a portion of the pipeline in Coden, Ala.
• Installation of a meter station in Manatee County, Fla.

Regulatory Process

On June 3, 2019, Gulfstream filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) seeking approval to expand the existing Gulfstream pipeline system in Alabama and Florida to provide additional firm transportation capacity of 78,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas to customers in Central Florida. This federal proceeding is referenced as FERC Docket No. CP19-475-000. The company is requesting a schedule that would allow all proposed facilities to be placed into service by late 2022.

FERC will prepare an environmental evaluation using information included in Gulfstream’s Certificate Application, supplemental information that may be provided upon request, information assembled by FERC staff, as well as information provided by state and federal agencies and the public.  The evaluation will describe the proposed project and alternatives, as well as identifying existing environmental conditions and potential impacts from the project.  The evaluation will also indicate what mitigation measures, constructions procedures, and routing could be included in the project to eliminate or reduce impacts.
